Description:
In honor of First Responders our 9-11 heroes and those who have kept us safe since then. Written for the Free Republic Tribute to Heroes Candlelight Vigil held on 11 September 2009. Washington,DC over looking the Pentagon

A Hero's Creed

Our homeland attacked ... another day in infamy
Left us...shaken to the core....
Oh... Innocence taken...so suddenly
That September morn.

Our towers fell the world stood still
The Pentagon...hit in DC
"Let's Roll" said our heroes in the sky
On flight 93.

We are a nation of heroes when faced with adversity
Every day people extraordinary deeds
No greater love than when one lays down his life
Live free or die a hero's creed.

We salute our first responders...some paid with their lives
To save those...in harm's way
Photographs and memories are all we have left
Of loved ones...lost that day

Our nation responded determined not to yield
To terrorists...far away and near
We're fighting for freedom...on distant battle fields
So we may live without fear.

We are a nation of heroes when faced with adversity
Every day people extraordinary deeds
No greater love than when one lays down his life
Live free or die a hero's creed.

Our nation stands guard against attacks on our land
We owe it...to those who heed the call
The tree of liberty...Oh still proudly stands
In honor of those...who gave all.

Live for nothing or die for something
Heroes never hesitate
We must stand our ground no room to fail
Our freedom...is at stake

We are a nation of heroes when faced with adversity
Every day people extraordinary deeds
No greater love than when one lays down his life
Live free or die a hero's creed.

No greater love than when one lays down his life
Live free or die...a Hero's creed.

Oh...no, don't tread on me....
Live free or die...a Hero's creed.

Oh...no, don't tread on me....
Live free or die...a Hero's creed.
