Dr. Finkel is speaking at the Megalithomania Conference, Glastonbury on 6 - 7 May 2023:
http://www.megalithomania.co.uk. Dr. Irving Finkel is Assistant Keeper of Ancient Mesopotamian script at the British Museum. Born in 1951, he is an archaeologist and Assyriologist in the spirit of nineteenth century Assyriologist George Smith, who translated cuneiform tablets revealing the Mesopotamian version of the story of Noah's Ark and the Great Flood. The appearance recently of a cuneiform tablet on which was a previously unknown version of the ark story has brought the subject back into the news. Following its translation by Dr. Finkel, the palm-sized tablet was found to contain previously unknown elements of the Babylonian flood myth, including the fact that the Ark was round, and that the animals went in two-by-two, something previously seen as unique to the Biblical account. The matter is the subject of Irving Finkel's book The Ark Before Noah (Hodder, 2014), and was featured on the Channel 4 documentary The True Story of the Ark. It is an extraordinary story that Dr. Finkel recounted to the Origins 2014 conference audience.
