Description:

A thorough exploration of three megalithic quarries at Baalbek. The main one contains the 'Stone of the Pregnant Woman' estimated to weight 1000 tons. In late 2014 a much larger monolith was discovered weighing in at 1650 tons that is now excavated. They look at another nearby area that has a stone weighing 1240 tons, and visit ancient quarries and caves that are on private land and not open to tourists. Hugh Newman, Andrew collins and Yousef Awyan look at the Biblical lore of giants who may have been involved in the construction of the main Baalbek Temple that is about 1 KM away. Hugh also discusses the idea that it was deliberately left there to mark the birthplace of the temple and the team suggest that the Romans may not have been the first builders here. Part 2 exploring the mega-platforms and 800 ton stones at Baalbek Temple coming next.
