Description:

An exploration of the 11,600 year old site of Göbekli Tepe in Sanliurfa Province, Turkey. Hugh Newman takes you on a tour of the excavation and takes a close look at Pillar 43 or the 'Vulture Stone', which is on display in the on-site museum (a replica). He also shows some artifacts that are on display there and after talking to one of the archaeologists finds out information about the latest excavation area which is currently closed to the public. Hugh looks at the orthodox history of the site and discusses some alternative ideas from researchers such as JJ Ainsworth and Andrew Collins, who are co-hosting the Megalithomania Göbekli Tepe and Ancient Turkey Tour in September 2022: http://www.megalithomania.co.uk/turkey2022.html.
