Product of the counter culture revolution, or product of the CIA? But, can you have one, without the other? It was the CIA fueling the era with LSD and implementing programs designed at the Tavistock Institute that brought about sweeping change in [their] desired direction. Jim Jones was an instrument of the CIA, and there are many reasons to believe that Manson was as well.

In 1973, just after the CIA’s redirection in the next stage of testing and development of the M.K. ULTRA and related operations, it was decided that religious cults best represented a new and virtually fool-proof operations platform in which to further Mind Control technologies. Several religious “sects and cults” were examined by the Agency for their possible utilization by the CIA in Top Secret studies of Mind Control operations. In late 1973, under this new focus of the CIA, Deep Cover Operative George Philip Blakey made the initial $650,000 deposit for purchase of what would become known as “The People’s Temple” in Guyana, under the management of Reverend Jim Jones. During this period, Jones moved his People’s Temple from California to Guyana, where the Agency felt it would be isolated and kept away from public or government scrutiny which might interfere with the operation.

NXIVM, an organization that brainwashed and blackmailed women into being “sex slaves,” has crumbled. In March 2018, its founder, Keith Raniere, was arrested and charged with sex trafficking for his role in the group, which then set off a domino effect: In the ensuing months, federal prosecutors would go on to charge more and more people for their involvement, some of whom have now plead guilty. The picture painted of NXIVM in media reports is disturbing, to say the least: that the purported “self-help organization” was instead a front for a sex cult that branded numerous female members with Raniere’s initials and coerced them into “master-slave” relationships. The past few months have seen the emergence of some truly abhorrent details pertaining to the case, relating to everything from enslavement to child pornography. The five women who were Raniere’s co-defendants have pleaded guilty to various charges.

The Finders cult was a young group of men, women, and children who claimed to be nothing more than former hippies living an alternative lifestyle and practicing alternative parenting. The Finders were founded by a mysterious man with military connections nicknamed “The Game Caller” who believed in turning his life, and the lives of those around him, into a constant game or experiment. Although more than 30 years have passed since The Finders made their way to the front page of newspapers all over the United States, questions still remain. Did the Game Caller’s games involve trafficking of children? What exactly were the finders finding? Why did this story make mainstream headlines and then disappear in less than a week? Was the story part of the “moral panic” of the 1980’s, or something more? We will answer these questions, and most importantly, we ask, who will find what the Finders hide?
